Quick Chipboard Album

I have been so busy lately I haven't had any time to do something creative so I decided I would throw together a quick chipboard album with some new paper and embellishments I just bought.  It only took me about 45 minutes and it is a nice little gift to give for a graduate or kids birthday party.

Creative Saturday Party and Chalkboard Obsession

Wow....It's been two weeks since I've posted anything! That time has gone so quickly and looking back it has been a very busy two weeks.  My daughter went to her first prom and we have also had a couple snow storms in there too and a couple 70 degree days. Crazy how the weather has been this year here in Minneapolis. Hopefully yesterday was the last cold day for us...at 35 degrees and snow...by Monday they are saying in the 60's and 70's from now on. Please let spring be here!

My daughter had a quote she wanted to post on the chalkboard this week, but I wasn't crazy about how it was worded.  She wanted

"Today may not be my day, but this year will be."

and I want her to feel like every day is "her day" and it is amazing.  So this one is for my daughter...Life is amazing!

On a Card Binge....

I've been so busy making cards lately that I thought I should share a few with you.  I've used the scraps from other projects.

As many of you know, I challenge myself to Card Challenges.  I use the coordinating prints and embellishments I already have out from my other projects and try to use as many of the scraps up and make as many cards as I can in a very short amount of time.

Here are some of those cards!

Papermache Letters

I've had these letters sitting around for a while and finally decided to dig them out and get them done.  They are the initials of my Hubby, Scott and I.

It was a pretty quick project and just needed some coordinating paper, embellishments, dark brown ink and glue.  I think they turned out pretty cute and look great on our clock wall.

  {Our clock wall is a collection of clocks we have found on our weekend trips and vacations.}

Decorated Powdered Drink Containers

With four kids, we go through the powdered drinks (crystal light) quickly in out house, leaving lots of little plastic containers around. I started wondering what I could use them for and if I could make them look cute.  I found they can be cut down too if they are too tall.

{Here are some uses for them}
Hair accessories, tooth brush holder, makeup brush holder, travel jewlery container, bead holder, needle point floss holder (cut cardboard to slide into container and wrap floss around it.  Great for kids that make friendship bracelets) May Day baskets, party favor containers, gift boxes, tea, candy, markers and Crayons, craft supplies, cotton balls/qtips, marbles, action figures, Barbie accessories, Nerf gun bullets, planters for little plants....you name it!

 {What do you need?}
Plastic powdered drink containers
Coordinating papers
Glue
Embellishments
Ribbon (If making into baskets with handles)

Tip: Cut the wrapper off and use as template to cut paper to go around container.

Have fun and decorate!

Scrapbook Art & Creative Linky Party

I love scrapbooking but I'm so far behind on my scrapbooks it is overwhelming.  I do love having that scrapbook feel though and still display my favorite photos.  To I decided to start combining them together.  I have found using frames and canvas as my base piece work very well!

Antique Lamp Globe Fix

My parents are big antique collectors and have lots of beautiful, BREAKABLE pieces throughout the house.  Several years ago, I was visiting my parents with my dogs and low and behold...the knocked a table and an old globe table lamp fell over and broke..EEK!

Last week I was down visiting them and my Mom pulled out the globe and some paint and wanted me to paint the globe.  She had already done the background color over the entire globe.

Now...keep in mind, I haven't done this type of painting before, so this was all on a wing and a prayer.  I was very surprised that it didn't take me more than 2 hours and I think it turned out pretty good.

Gift Frame & Friday Linky Party #6

I've been trying to use some of the craft stuff I have around the house before I go out and buy more fun stuff.    I found this plain white frame I've had for years...about 7 years at least...just waiting to be used.  My Mom will be away from home while she is going through her treatments for stomach cancer and I thought it would be nice to have a photo of all of us together and some words of encouragement from each of us.

I call it a gift frame...it could be used for Grandparents, get well from a family or co-workers, a wedding present, wishes for a new baby, graduation or any other occasion you would like.  It gives a personal touch with handwritten words on it.

I used all scraps on it and was able to make 3 cards as well....what a deal!
1.  Find something to decorate (frame, book, box...)  2.  Rub an ink pad along edges to give some color without having to paint the whole frame.  3.  Add scrap papers to create a writing area.  I also added a frame I found around the photo. 4.  Write your wishes onto the frame.

Quick Scrap Cards
1.  Gather coordinating scrap papers and plain cards.  2.  Rub ink pad along edges of cards. 3.  Place a large block of scrap paper onto card.  4.  Layer long strips or blocks of paper to get desired look. 5. Add embellishments such as a saying, flower, ribbon or button.

My Creative Corner

With four children in our house, we don't have a lot of extra space.  I needed to have a space of my own to spread out and be creative.  Our living room downstairs is a very long space with a large closet on one end.  We divided the space up into a TV space and then my creative corner.  So, with the help of Scott and my oldest son, I got it all set up (since I can't lift anything yet after surgery).  I organized all my crafts and scrapbook supplies so they are color coordinated and grouped in categories.  It took me a few days, but I finally finished and here is what it turned out like...

My Ribbons are stored in glass jars according to colors and my scrapbook paper is sorted into solids and prints by color and a section for holiday papers, specialty papers (sports, school, travel, etc.).  The drawers on the far left have special occasions such as wedding, baby, birthday and a drawer for beach/Disney.

Each drawer was sorted into colors.  I put two colors in each drawer and used a divider to keep the colors separate.  Brads, buttons, small stickers and other accessories are all housed in these drawers.  I also have a drawer for holidays, Winter and Vintage items.
