"Vacation" Goals

Almost a week after my surgery and I am feeling much better.  A little bruised and sore still but I'm up and moving, which is a great thing!

{I am a list person...adding and crossing off items is a
great sense of accomplishment!}

This morning, as a I ate a bowl of frosted flakes with sliced bananas, I grabbed my notepad.   I have been laying around thinking...hmmm...I want to do this and that, ohhhh...and that too.  But I'm afraid I will waste my entire time off doing nothing.  I decided I need to write my "Vacation" goals down.

My goals are a mix of personal and creative goals and I want to work on business ideas to grow my cleaning company and find what will make me happy in the long run.  Yay!  Now I feel like I'm ready to enjoy my "Vacation Time" off and not just waste it away.

Wishing for Spring...

Day three after surgery and I'm bored and wishing for Spring!  Here are a few of my favorite things about spring and summer.  I long to feel the warm breeze blowing through my hair and having to use my cowboy hat to keep the sun off my freckled face.

With four kiddos, our summers are busy as can be!  LaCrosse and Marching Band consume a lot of our time.  Scott and I love spending quiet mornings on the river, fishing.  I get pretty excited about catching anything...This whole fishing thing is a new interest for me.  Though putting the worm on or taking the fish off is not something I do yet.

My favorite things:
                   1. Canoeing  2. Camping  3. Hiking  4. Traveling
                                       5. Fishing 6.  Anything with the people I love!

Recovery vs. Creativity

Two days ago, on Thursday, I had a hysterectomy.  I came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and I am already finding it hard to just rest and recover.  I feel much better than I was expecting and my Go-Go personality is fighting to make its comeback.  I have 4-6 weeks of recovery and can't over do it but I am feeling so good I have so many ideas running through my head.   The next few weeks are going to be a balance of recovery and creativity.

Here was my creative project from this morning...

And I thought I would share a few pictures of my pretty flowers I got while in the hospital.

Chalkboard Obsessed!

Do you love chalkboards as much as I do?  If so, here is a project for you.  See how easy it is to create a chalkboard in about an hour.  I have a few more chalkboard projects around the house.  Thought I'd share my obsession with you!

Here's how to make a quick chalkboard...

1.  Find a frame or surface for your chalkboard.
2.  Paint the frame in desired color.  Here I've painted it turquoise, sanded the edges and wiped a little stain onto the frame.
3.  Roll chalkboard paint onto surface.  I recommend two coats.
4.  Have fun Expressing Yourself!

Great for special announcements too...

Happy Chalking!

Lamp...Repainted

OMG...I'm jumping up and down with excitement!  I found this plaster lamp at a thrift store yesterday for $10.00 with the lampshade and all!  It was pretty boring but I jazzed it up a bit today.

  1. Painted it with primer
  2. Painted it with a turquoise satin paint.
  3. Painted it with a dark stain and then rubbed it off with a cloth.
That is it...My new turquoise lamp!
