Easter Egg Cake

This delicious Easter Cake was quite a sweet treat but it scared us as first!

It is a strawberry cake with layers of buttercream frosting and sliced strawberries.  The next morning when we went to add the fondant the cake was oozing with juice from the strawberries.  We had not idea if the cake was going to be ok or not...but OHHHH it sure was yummy!

Super Cool Cakes

This week has been a busy one but wanted to add a quick post so I thought I would feature some of our cakes we have made in the past year!      It's been fun creating new cakes with Scott...sometimes it gets a little tense though when two creative minds have different ideas of how it should look!  Every cake has a story...here are a few of them.

{The Sleeping Fisherman}
 This gigantic cake was made for my Uncle...it was a full sheet cake.  The first one that I have actually piped most of the cake.  My hands were aching my by the time I was finished.  The sleeping fisherman is my Uncle and the three fish are my cousins who share birthdays all the in the same month as their Dad.  They are playing pranks on him...one has his lure hooked to a tire (left), one is going in for his toes and the other one is laughing.
SOOO....The delivery of this was our most stressful one!  It was so big we had to take our Suburban but the A/C was out....and did I mention it was 95 degrees that day???  Plus an hour drive!  I was so stressed  by the time we got there I headed right for the bar after it was placed in the party room.  Glad we got to celebrate the rest of the time.

{Twins Cake}

Made for a couple who found out they were having twins.  It was just a small cake but one of my absolute favorite ones we made.  The babies are in a round crib with a cute dust ruffle on it.  It makes me smile just seeing it again!

Oh...and they ended up having a boy and a girl!
{Cherry On Top Cupcakes}
What better way to celebrate a 7 year olds birthday than giant hot pink cupcakes with bright yellow frosting and a fondant cherry on top!  Yummy!
{Fairy Cake}
Every little girl dreams of a fairy cake right?  This two tier cake was a heavy one!  With all the fondant on it I could hardly lift it by myself.  This was our first cake that Scott and I made together.  Everything is edible...even the fairies.

It is Real or Cake?

We always love taking on a challenge and some of these cakes were definitely a challenge!  These were the ones that fooled a few.

The Tank Cake...

This one just kept getting better and better as we added small touches.  To make the cake shiny, like a toy, we painted a small amount of water over the fondant.  Then made small rivets out of fondant and painted gold luster dust (dry) over them.

13th Birthday Long Board Cake...

This cake was only one cake deep but was about 40 inches long!  Modeled from a real Long Board.  We bought a cheap skateboard and took the wheels off and set them on the cake.  Then, free-handed a design to represent the things that this 13 year old boy liked.  His friend came in and went to pick it up, thinking it was his long board present.

The Golden Pig...

The golden pig is a good luck charm and perfect for 20th "Golden" Birthday.  This pig was free standing on legs made of rice crispy treats.  The bottom half of the pig is made from half a styro-foam ball and the cake is the other half.  The whole pig was then painted with golden luster dust mixed with vodka.

XBOX: Game over cake...

This cake was made for a Grooms Dinner with the "Game Over" emblem on it.  It was a huge hit at the party!  The controler was made of rice crispy treat.

A Few Recent Bakes

Before Scott and I met, Scott was the Bachelor Cake Maker.  The first week we met, he made me a cake and woo'd and ahhh'd over it!  This was one of many things that made me fall in love with him.  So, of course, I got sucked into making cakes with him and our creativity blended well...though sometimes it did cause some little arguements!

Here are a few of our recent cakes we have made.  I will post more of our older cakes as time goes on.
